What WychBox collects, and what it never does.
Every location, box, and item you add — including names, descriptions, tags, and photos — is stored in the app's local database on your device. There's no account and no sign-in. Your content only leaves your device when you choose to share it, as described below. Backups are saved as a file that goes wherever you choose to send or store it, never to our servers.
WychBox asks for camera access so you can photograph your storage locations, boxes, and items, and use Smart Scan to spot the items on a shelf or in an open box — for example, snapping a photo of a box of holiday decorations to catalog what's inside. Photo library access lets you pick existing photos for the same purposes. Photos are stored on your device unless you choose to share them, as described below. WychBox only takes still photos and never requests access to your microphone.
When you share an item, box, or location, just the content you selected — its names, descriptions, tags, quantities, and photos, plus the sender name you enter on the share screen, if any — is uploaded to the WychBox share service (hosted on Microsoft Azure) so the person you send the link to can open it. Shared content isn't tied to an account, and it's automatically deleted after about 24 hours, after which the link stops working. If the share service can't be reached, the app instead sends the content directly as a link or file through the app you pick, without going through our servers.
Each time you open or return to WychBox, it may send a small anonymous usage report — the number of locations, boxes, and items you have, your approximate region (from device locale, not precise location), the app version, whether the app is the free version or has Full Access, and a random device identifier not tied to your Apple ID or email. These reports never include your content. Turn them off anytime in Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous usage counts."
The Full Access in-app purchase is processed entirely by Apple. We never receive your payment details, name, or Apple ID — the app only learns whether Full Access is unlocked on your device, and buying it doesn't require an account with us.
Smart Scan's object detection and labeling run entirely on your device. The photos it analyzes are never sent to a server to be scanned.
This policy may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
